DISHA: The first step towards securing patient health data in India

With a view to improve healthcare delivery and protect patient data in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the draft Digital Information Security in Healthcare Act (DISHA). Once finalized and introduced as law, DISHA is set to replace the current regulatory framework for data protection with respect to digital health data. Given the magnitude of such a legislation, Dr. Milind Antani, Anay Shukla and Darren Punnen examine DISHA, its salient features and the potential impact on patient data privacy, in their feature article published in Digital Health Legal.
